Conditions Treated

Plantar Fasciitis

Inflammation of the plantar fascia ligament connecting your toes to your heel bone is called plantar fasciitis. Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include pain in the bottom and heel of the foot that worsens when you step on that foot, intense pain after resting and reduced flexibility. Bending the toes and foot up towards the shin also produces pain in the heel and sole area. Causes of plantar fasciitis involve standing for long periods, obesity, flat feet and high arches.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Using your hands, fingers and wrist to perform repetitive actions puts constant pressure on the median nerve. Lying underneath your wrist and extending through a narrow pathway constructed of ligaments and bones (the carpal tunnel) is the median nerve, one of several nerves running through the arm for the purpose of sensation, feeling and strength. When abnormal pressure is placed on the carpal tunnel, the median nerve becomes inflamed and irritated, producing pain and numbness even when you are not using your hand.

Back and Neck Pain

While overexertion and/or poor posture are the primary reasons for back and neck pain, other possible causes include upper cervical subluxation, osteoporosis, herniated, bulging or ruptured disc, spinal stenosis or sciatica.

Whiplash/Personal Injury

At the moment your body is severely jolted during a car accident, endorphins flood the bloodstream to help minimize stress and pain. Within 24 to 48 hours of the accident, your body finally "calms down" and no longer releases huge amounts of endorphins. This is why you start feeling pain, stiffness and inflammation days after involvement in an auto accident.

Symptoms of whiplash include pain, stiffness and numbness in the shoulders, neck and back pain, headaches, dizziness, nausea and inhibited range of motion. Spinal subluxation occurs when vertebrae, displaced by the forceful impact of a car accident, press against spinal nerves. Chiropractic adjustments provided by your Woodstock chiropractor restores spine health and alleviates symptoms of whiplash without relying on surgery or prescription medications.

Fibromyalgia

Characterized by widespread muscle pain, overwhelming fatigue, sleep disturbances and chronic headaches, fibromyalgia is a debilitating disorder comparable to rheumatic conditions affecting soft tissues and and joints. Cognitive problems, morning stiffness, inflammatory bowel syndrome, tingling/numbness in the arms and legs and extreme sensitivity to lights and noise are additional symptoms of fibromyalgia.
